Wrapped in the warmth of golden sunshine, this yellow matka silk saree is elegance woven with quiet drama. Handwoven by artisans, its rustic texture and subtle shimmer speak of slow beauty. The delicate coin butis which are interwoven in stripes across the saree and the golden undertones catch the light just enough to make you glow. In Bengal, these sarees are popularly called 'Gini Matka' sarees since Gini means gold coin.

Styling Tips

Golden Glow-Up: Pair the saree with a sleeveless or halter-neck blouse in deep maroon, olive green, or antique gold to add a pop of contrast.

Jewellery: Go for oxidized silver jewellery for a rustic look or temple gold jewellery if you're dressing for a puja or festive occasion. A chunky choker or layered kundan pearls would be stunning.

Hair & Makeup:

  • Soft waves or a low bun adorned with jasmine for a traditional feel.

  • Keep the makeup minimal—think dewy base, kohl-rimmed eyes, and a pop of coral or nude on the lips.

Footwear: Tan or gold kolhapuris, juttis, or block heels with embroidered details will complete the look with comfort and flair.

Bag: A beaded potli or hand-embroidered clutch in mustard, cream, or gold tones would be perfect.

Why is Matka Silk called cruelty-free silk?

Matka silk is made from pierced or already-emerged cocoons (where the moth has flown out), which means the silk thread is shorter and has a more textured, matte finish. This method makes Matka silk a more ethical and cruelty-free alternative to traditional mulberry silk, where the worm is typically boiled inside the cocoon to extract long, continuous threads.

Because of this, Matka silk is often classified as a peace silk or Ahimsa silk variant, though the term “Ahimsa silk” is usually more strictly reserved for silk where no harm at all comes to the worm, including its natural lifecycle.
