Grace meets tradition in Bornolota, a luxurious handwoven purple Matka silk saree featuring a seamless blend of textured Matka silk in the body and sheer muslin in the pallu. The rich body of the saree is adorned with beige paisley motifs touched with red, while the pallu blooms with bold floral vines in red and beige – a stunning contrast that feels both regal and artistic.

Why is Matka Silk considered sustainable and a cruelty-free choice?
Matka silk is made from pierced or already-emerged cocoons (where the moth has flown out), which means the silk thread is shorter and has a more textured, matte finish. This method makes Matka silk a more ethical and cruelty-free alternative to traditional mulberry silk, where the worm is typically boiled inside the cocoon to extract long, continuous threads.
Because of this, Matka silk is often classified as a peace silk or Ahimsa silk variant, though the term “Ahimsa silk” is usually more strictly reserved for silk where no harm at all comes to the worm, including its natural lifecycle.
